Renowned Journalist

Mariana Alfar is a veteran journalist and former news anchor whose career and personal journey took her from the Middle East to Europe and Australia, and ultimately to the United States. Her international media and communications background shaped her strengths in storytelling, relationship-building, and calm leadership under pressure. Rooted in Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” she champions grassroots nonprofits, helping turn good ideas into real-world impact through hands-on leadership and community partnerships.

Her service began in Jordan supporting Iraqi refugees, and continues today through Rotary. Her latest initiative is a bi-monthly lunch program serving 150 people experiencing homelessness, alongside founding the Hope Walk for the Homeless.

In 2027, she will serve as Rotary District 6440 Governor, helping 2,000 service-minded volunteers turn compassion into action across their communities.
